Also goes by loofa, luffah, and even loofah. However you may spell it, these seeds are perfect for starting your luffa garden.
Luffas have a long growing season so its best to start seeds indoors 6 weeks before the last frost date in your area. To help with successful seed germination soak seeds for 24 hours before planting. Once planted in the dirt, you can place a heating pad under the seedlings to also help with germination.
Luffa plants prefer full sun and moist soil and are best grown over garden trellises since they can reach up to 30 feet in length.
Immature luffas can be harvested when small (4-8 inches long) and cooked like squash is.
When fully mature, they can be dried and have many different uses around your home such as spa sponges, kitchen sponges, and can be used in soap making! Don't forget to save your seeds!
